Gender and Sexuality Equality Initiatives
Saitama University implements the following initiatives to create an on-campus environment where everyone can learn and work with peace of mind, paying respect to the diversity of gender and sexuality.

Enhancement of the consultation system
Consultations on matters related to gender and sexuality in university life (sexual harassment, sexual orientation and gender identity, gender dysphoria, etc.) are offered by the Gender Equality Office (Center for Gender, Diversity and Inclusion), the Health Service Center, and the Student Counseling Room.

On-campus training
We offer training sessions for faculty and staff.
In cooperation with Saitama City, we hold a workshop for new students every year at the time of admission.
Consultations on periodic health checkup scheduling
If you undergo a consultation at the Health Service Center, we can make accommodations to allow students to receive medical examinations on a different date for reasons such as gender dysphoria.

Installation of all-gender accessible toilets
We are working on installing toilets that anyone can use with peace of mind regardless of gender or disability, installing pictograms, and informing users about them.
Using changing rooms
We are preparing private changing rooms that anyone can use regardless of gender.
Review of gender designations on certificates issued by the university
We have removed unnecessary gender designations on certificates and other documents issued by the university.
Use of preferred names on campus
Students can use their preferred names on campus, including in the student register and on certificates.
When requested, we will issue certificates to users of preferred names.

Student involvement
We promote student involvement in gender, sexuality, and other diversity initiatives. Examples: The all-gender accessible toilet project, workshops at Saitama University Exchange Plaza
Collaborative classes with the National Women’s Education Center
We offer collaborative classes with the National Women’s Education Center.
We currently offer the foundation education subject “Thinking about a Gender-Equal Society: Encounter with the University 2.”
Other internal announcements
The number of books in the Saitama University Library recommended by the Gender Equality Office increased in April. These books are displayed near the entrance on the second floor of the library. Please check these out the next time you stop by the library.
