Seminar 2019
JSPS Core-to-Core Program “Future Collaboration toward Establishment of Suitable Specification based on Materials and Environmental Conditions in Asian Countries  “
( ACF also supports this seminar! )

  • Date: 12th and 13th September, 2019
  • Place: Academic Lounge 1 (AL1) at School of Engineering
    Hokkaido University, Sappro, Japan
  • Seminar Flyer

Following the 3rd ACF (Asian Concrete Federation) symposium “Assessment and Intervention of Existing Structures” held at Hokkaido University, this JSPS seminar was carried out. In the seminar, the achievement of the project was introduced and the practical issues in Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka due to hot weather conditions were presented toward the establishment of suitable specification in each country. In the seminar, newly approved Technical Committee in ACF, “Concrete practices and feasible measures for construction and design in hot weather conditions based on material characteristics (Chairperson: Dr. Shingo ASAMOTO)”, was also introduced. The TC aims to survey the problems of concrete practices in Asian hot climate countries to comprehend the common practical issues and characteristics of initial defects and deterioration due to hot climate and then to find out the possible measures according to the technical level, cost and local materials in each country.

Seminar 2018
JSPS Core-to-Core Program “Deterioration of concrete structures and application of mineral admixture in hot weather conditions “

  • Date: 25th and 26th September, 2018 (27th Optional tour of site visit)
  • Place: National University of Civil Engineering, Hanoi, Vietnam
  • Seminar Program (PDF)

The seminar entitled “Deterioration of concrete structures and application of mineral admixture in hot weather conditions” was carried out at National University of Civil Engineering, Vietnam in Hanoi on 25th and 26th in September 2018. Over 100 people from Vietnam (including Vice Minister of Ministry of Construction, President and vice president of Vietnam Cement Association), Thailand (9 persons), Sri Lanka (13 persons), Indonesia (3 persons) and Japan (24 persons) attended the seminar. In panel discussion, the first ACF(Asian Concrete Federation) president, Prof. Uomoto and the current president, Prof. Yokota were invited to introduce the history and the current situation of ACF. The concrete issues and the effect of mineral admixtures in hot weather conditions were actively discussed among participants. The JSPS seminar in 2018 was successfully finished.
